IVN® was founded in Los Angeles in 1994. The company has developed Silhouette, a platform technology that allows real people to meet as themselves in a shared virtual environment.

The technology rests on seven United States patents, with the first filed in 2000. Silhouette works without headsets, without wearables, and without proprietary hardware—just an ordinary screen and camera.
